Bibs and Books

Kamaria loving her Pink Birkie bib!
One of the favorite days at Run Club is when we bring out the bibs for the kids to wear. The bibs are from World Cup, World Championships, the Olympics and the American Birkebeiner. The kids love picking out their favorite numbers and colors and then learning about what country and which race the bibs are from.

Fun to see new life brought to the bibs all the way from Davos, Switzerland and Lillehammer, Norway.
The bibs make practises look more official.

Even the Engadin Bib made it out.

Precious just over half-way

Once everyone ran their 3 miles we brought out another awesome surprise for the kids. My grandmother taught reading for over 35 years at an elementary school in the Bronx. My grandmother's specialty was working with at risk children and she shared her passion for books and reading with hundreds of kids each year. She follows our work at the Boys and Girls Club and decided she wanted to re-connect with her calling. Although she still lives in New York City she has been donating books to our run club on a regular basis. Although our focus is on Health and Wellness it's hard to not associate the love of reading with wellness. Thanks Grandma for inspiring these kids.

Tavion and Amarion were the first two to get their snack and new books.
Today was Precious' first day and she will certainly be back.
